Yet another new year has arrived and the old one gone, never to return. Time flies and one big question that needs to be asked is this… have you done enough for your business last year? If you did well last year, what do you plan to do for your business this year? If you didn’t do too well on the previous year, what should you do now to make a difference?

The best thing you can do right now is to set your goals and make sure that you set them right.

So how then should one set their goals? Because we’ve all been there where we are very energetic, motivated and excited when the new year arrives and then the energy dies down after just a mere few week.

The thing is, this happens to almost everyone. Of course some ‘extraordinary people’ with natural talents might not suffer from this problem but chances are you and I are just the same, and we have to face this every year.

If you go about and ask around the people you know if they still remember what their goals were for last year, most people will have to stop and think about it before giving you an answer while still scratching on their head filled with doubt. This is because most people forget their goals easily after a short amount of time.
Here are some ways to help you achieve your goals.

Know your goals.
Firstly, before setting your goals you must know the time frame of your goals. There are long-term goals, medium term goals and short-term goals. For long-term goals, you will usually set it inside your brains, and that is more than enough. For example, your long-term goal could be to make a lot of money so that you can buy a new house at your dream destination. This kind of goal is usually very hard to forget because ultimately this is where you want them to be.

It is, however, important that you have a clear long-term goal first before you can start setting your mid-term goals and short term ones. Only when you know clearly of what you want can you go about and set your mid-term and short-term goals.

Mid-term goals are usually goals which you look to achieve every year and short-term goals should be goals you look to achieve every 3 months or less. This way, you can slowly pinpoint your way to success.

Your goals have to be crystal clear.
So now you know you want to earn a lot of money. How much money do you need? How soon do you want to get there? These are all the questions we should ask when you’re setting your goals. You must include as many details as possible, and you have to be crystal clear of what you want. Some experts will even encourage you to visualize it in your mind or create a picture of your main goal with all the details that you can think of. This is very effective to help you get a clear picture of what you want.

Your goals have to be realistic.
It is very important to have a realistic goal that you can shoot for. This means your goal must not be too ridiculous that you will not believe that you can actually achieve it. You need to set a reasonable goal that you think you can achieve within a set time frame that you think is possible.

When you believe in your heart that it is actually possible to make it happen, that’s when you are able to follow your plans carefully and get yourself towards your goals one step at a time. Without a strong faith, you will find yourself discouraged and easily forgetting what is important to you. No one can ever hope to accomplish their goals if they were not passionate about it, and if they could not believe that they could achieve it. People will just give up too easily without a goal that they can believe in.

Your goals need to be step by step.
Now we move into those midterm and short-term goals. Your midterm goals should be mini goals that you set to ultimately move you closer to your main goals every year. Your short-term goals are your plans on how you want to achieve your yearly goals. This way, you can move step by step towards your goals every year in an organized manner.

Always write down your goals and place it where you can see it.
In the beginning of this article, I mentioned that one of the main reasons that people fail with their goals is because we forget our goals too easily. The one way to prevent ourselves from forgetting our goals is to write them down and make it official. The next thing you should do is to put it up where you can read them every day. This is important because our brain needs to be constantly reminded on what is important to us if we want our body to listen to the brain.

If you set your goals right and take a vow to do anything within your power to achieve it, and then go ahead and take massive actions, then there is no reason why you will not be able to success in achieving your goals. Always remember that the rule of goal setting is that you need to be clear with what you wanted, make sure that is achievable and believe in it.

Lastly, try your best to list out the small steps that you need to take each day to move closer to your goals. Be sure to write them down and review your goals every once in a while. This way, you will never get lost, and you will never find yourself forgetting what you have set out to achieve this very year.

Free Blog Content

Blogging is fun, entertaining, exciting and can be very profitable.

But it can also be exhausting, tiring, and strenuous when you’re trying to keep up with the daily postings.

Including new information that is relevant to your blog topic is extremely important to maintain a good following from your target audience and expand your marketing reach. Often times, bloggers may need a little help. No matter how passionate or enthusiastic you are about your subject, it can become difficult to maintain a consistent flow of fresh content. It’s also hard to keep up with everything in a particular niche, particularly when it comes to the latest findings and new data.

That’s when free articles and other content can be a real life saver.

Searching with your search engine of choice, such as Yahoo or Google, you can find free articles, along with a variety of other valuable information that can be used on your blog. Simply search for “free articles for my blog” or similar phrases using your search engine. You will find a huge array of websites returned for your examination. For example, using Yahoo and searching this topic brings up a large number of groups that have lots of free, valuable information to offer.

Clicking on the sites, you will find articles you can use on your blog. They offer free content that can be published as is or edited for posting. Try it yourself. Click on Yahoo Free Articles and you’ll discover many different types of groups. Search for one that is relevant to your blog topic and then search the various types of free articles available. Not only are there free articles, but these groups include valuable information related to your niche topic.

For example, there is a Medi-Smart group on Yahoo.com that is focused on healthcare articles and helpful resources. They offer content for medical professionals and consumers on a variety of topics. They have interesting articles on key news and developments in health care, warnings about potential drug issues and news, information on free items and products, information or new medical findings, and various types of articles of interest in the category. By simply clicking on “Join This Group”, you can become a member and access a vast amount of free information and resources. You can also contribute articles and information to the group for use by others.

Blogging consistently and keeping your audience updated on newsworthy information, updates, product information, and other related things can increase your blog’s value to readers. These newsgroups prove to be valuable resources when it comes to finding current, high quality content for free.

Be the first to notify your target audience of new findings and industry information by becoming a member of groups such as those described above. You’ll find that you can quickly and easily update your blog to keep your readers ‘sticking’ around and coming back for more when you continually include relevant, current, and informative content.

Blogging for Dollars?

Many people blog to demonstrate expertise, help other people, or promote a cause. They have very real and often personal reasons for blogging. When it comes to monetizing blogs, people often have mixed feelings about whether or not this is the right thing to do. As a matter of fact, some people believe that monetizing your blog is a way of degrading or demeaning the content.

But for others, monetization is an important part of the blogging strategy.

Once you make up your mind whether or not to make money through advertisements on your blog site, then you can move forward. One of the most important things to do if you plan to monetize your site is to do it in a way that leads to success. If you are half-hearted or shy about your endeavors, it is likely your monetization will fall flat.

Keep these tips in mind as you move forward with monetization:

Choose ads that are relevant and provide value to your blog visitors.

Create titles for articles that are relevant to your blog topic and your advertising – congruency and consistency are important.

Create a plan for monetization so you can measure your success and identify challenges.

Engage in SEO so you get enough traffic to your blog for monetization to work. Traffic is key to success.

Avoid annoying ads and pop-ups that will turn your visitors away.

Consider reputable resources such as Google Adsense for your monetization efforts.

Evaluate affiliate programs offered through Amazon and others for monetization.

Make sure your blog software and host supports advertising on the site.

One other important way to monetize your blog that is often overlooked is through “Donations”. Believe it or not, people make a lot of money from donations on their blog. If you are passionate about your subject matter, consistent in your blog posts, and interactive with your audience, it is very likely that donations can work for you too.

Including a “Donations” button prominently displayed on your blog site can result in income for your efforts. Some people include catchy phrases in place of the word “Donations” – “Buy me a cup of coffee”, “Buy me a beer”, “Help my cause”, or “The buck goes here” are examples. Use your creativity and decide if your blog topic and passion are enough to make people want to give!
